Study the Bible

Reading God's word is essential for a Christian.  It is like gas for a car, we need it to get going.  Our spirit needs it like our bodies need water.  If the only time you study the bible is at church, you are likely spiritually malnourished.  Every Christ follower needs daily bible intake.   Don't know where to start?  Read the gospel of John!  Pick up your bible, flip to the middle, and read a chapter in Proverbs.  That is always a great place to develop consistency.  Proverbs has 31 chapters and most months have 31 days.  It’s easy to keep your place if you read a chapter a day.  Once you start reading and studying your bible you will discover all the benefits you have been missing.
